Air Deccan V2500 deal nets $170 million share for Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce has won a $170 million share of a follow-on order for V2500 engines from Indian low cost carrier, Air Deccan to power 30 additional Airbus A320 family aircraft.
This new engine order brings the number of V2500-powered A320s on order from Bangalore-based Air Deccan to 62.
The V2500 is produced by the International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) in which Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder. IAE’s other partners are Pratt & Whitney of the United States, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines of Germany.
Air Deccan was India’s first low cost airline, formed in 1995. Its fleet also comprises of ATR-42s and ATR-72s.
