New Delhi: In order to improve air connectivity in the northeast, the civil aviation ministry is mulling options of increasing flights between Manipur capital Imphal and the rest of the country.
The ministry Wednesday convened a meeting of all domestic operators to discuss ways to increase frequency to this destination, which is also a tourist spot. The meeting was also attended by most of the private operators, including Jet, Sahara, Kingfisher and Spice Jet.Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel asked private operators to consider flying to Imphal and come up with proposals to do so.
None of the private operates so far has ventured into this route primarily considering it to be a financially unviable destination.
