Minus infrastructure, Jet iffy about Sahara

New Delhi: Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal on Wednesday indicated that he may have a rethink on the pending $500-million acquisition of Air Sahara if the deal did not include parking slots and flight rights held by Subrata Roy’s airline.
"The deal with Sahara does not make commercial sense if its infrastructure rights are not transferred," Goyal said, giving a clear indication that his proposed acquisition is contingent on getting Sahara’s parking slots and flight rights. Considering that DGCA is sitting tight on the clearance that Jet needs for the closure of the deal, Goyal’s observations appeared to reflect the uncertainty over the proposed marriage of the two carriers.
