Phuket Airlines is planning to turn the airline's fortunes around by starting a pending expansion _ launching regional services with flights to India, China and resuming flights to domestic destinations _ in the next two years after clearing its name.
The EU ban tarnished Phuket Airlines' public image and seriously affected the company's business, hampering an attempt to renew a lease agreement with Saudi Airlines that ended last month.
Phuket Airlines hoped the Saudi contract would generate income and keep its four B747 jumbo jets in the air. The previous one-year contract called for Phuket Airlines to supply aircraft, cockpit officers, cabin crew and engineers, to Saudi for Middle Eastern routes.
Phuket Airlines' operations have been winding down, resulting in limited charter services and scheduled flights from Bangkok to Ranong and the Rangoon in Burma, which are flown by its two B737 jets.
