Muscat: Travel sources, yesterday evening, scotched rumours of a hefty fare hike to Indian destinations and instead revealed that an offer of a RO20 lowering to two key sectors awaited them.
Worried passengers phoned and made a beeline to travel agency offices here yesterday after hearing news in an Indian channel that a 40 per cent fare hike would be affected from today (Friday).
Fortunately, that news was detailing about a hike or rather a normalisation of rates in Dubai and not Muscat, travel agency sources said. But, many passengers were rather too quick on the trigger and worried themselves silly over the news that they probably may have heard only in parts.
“I have had some 50 calls by worried passengers asking whether this was true and whether there was an alternative,” a travel agency official told the Times of Oman.
