Chennai: Cargo handling accounts for 67 per cent of Jet Airways' total revenue, Peter Luethi, Chief Operating Officer, has said.
In an informal chat with presspersons after inaugurating a cargo office at the old Meenambakkam airport complex, he said the airline was carrying, on an average, 66 tonnes a day from Chennai. It carried 1,00,000 tonnes throughout its network, through 307 daily flights, using 53 aircraft.
As for the international route expansion, Mr. Luethi said that besides introducing the second service between Mumbai and London in June, the airline would begin the third flight from New Delhi to the Heathrow Airport, London. Pointing out that Chennai had a prime position in the airline's network since it had the largest number of the airline's international flights, Mr. Luethi said the airline was awaiting clearance from the Government to fly to Bangkok.
