The defective aircraft Boeing 747-400 will undergo a probe in the wake of its emergency landing on Saturday.
Air India has appointed a committee from its Quality Control and Technical Services (QCTD) of the Engineering and Air Safety Departments to establish the cause of the incident before the 15-year-old aircraft is put to operation again, a release from the airline said.
The committee will also consult officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Boeing Company and the tyre manufacturer during investigations, the release added. Currently, the aircraft has been grounded.
The flight, AI 137, bound for Frankfurt was diverted to Mumbai on Saturday as rubber pieces were found at Delhi airport after take-off.
