Mangalore: District in-charge Minister B. Nagaraj Shetty has promised to sort out modalities pertaining to immigration facilities at the Bajpe airport here to facilitate Air India Express to operate its international flights from May 7. He has instructed the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Police Department to work in tandem in this regard.
Admitting that security concerns over proper immigration facilities are germane, he said the same could be sorted out in a manner acceptable to all concerned.
M.R. Vasudeva, Director, AAI, Bajpe airport, said the National Informatics Centre had promised to provide computers to enable the authorities to start immigration counters. The work on the new runway would be completed by April 30, he said.
