Mumbai: The airport will finally get a rating, albeit a provisional one. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has agreed to the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) stand that some of the safety issues raised by the inspecting team could not be rectified due to a lack of space.
MiD DAY had earlier reported that an inspecting DGCA team had found Mumbai airport lacking on 76 counts — runway side strips, markings, taxiways, hangar heights and space between parking bays — as per the International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. Based on the changes the DGCA will issue a provisional rating of the airport, and list out the remaining deficiencies, the official said.
