SriLankan Airlines is to increase its capacity to the south Indian city of Calicut (Kozhikode) by upgrading its flights to the wide-bodied A330s.
SriLankan Airlines currently operates eight flights per week from Colombo to Calicut. The gradual upgrading of flights to A330s for the Calicut route will see an increase in the number of seats from 140 on the existing A320 flights to 295.
This includes 12 Business Class seats and 283 Economy Class seats.Mr N. Prabaharan, Regional Manager of Sri Lanka & the Indian Subcontinent, said, “The increase in capacity will provide greater convenience for both transit passengers, and those travelling between Calicut and Colombo. The A330s also have a much larger baggage capacity than the A320s, which will allow the aircraft to accommodate all paid excess luggage.”
SriLankan Airlines now serves nine Indian destinations – New Delhi, Mumbai (Bombay), Chennai (Madras), Trichy, Trivandrum, Calicut, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kochi.
