Jaipur: Vehicles on the Jaipur-Kota national highway were stranded for several hours today as villagers in Sanganer block protested the land acquiring process of the district administration for expansion of Jaipur airport.
The district authorities were asked by the Airport Authority of India to acquire 141 acres of land around Sanganer airport after the Centre declared it an international airport, police said.
The Action Committee To Save Farmers' Land in Sanganer alleged that the state government wanted to buy the farmers land for Rs 1,000 as against the current rate of Rs 25,000 per acre.
