Dubai: Emirates Airlines plans to connect non metros in India and enhance frequency from existing
destinations like Delhi and Mumbai.
The airline aims to cater to a growing segment of patients travelling to India for medical treatment. Moves are also afoot to launch non stop services from Bangalore from October 29, 2006. This, will increase Emirates Airlines' frequency to 71 non-stop flights to India a week.
Bangalore will be the airline’s eighth Indian gateway after New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata.
The airline recently commenced six non-stop direct flights per week on the Dubai-Kolkata sector, giving West Bengal and the neighbouring north east Indian states direct access to Dubai, fast emerging as a centre for tourism and commerce. It will operate Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route in three and two-class configurations.
