Mumbai: AIR-INDIA (A-I) on Friday regained the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a safety audit certificate conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which the global body had withdrawn in February.
However, until 2007, the certification is optional, when all IATA members will need the IOSA audit to maintain their membership.
IATA’s IOSA is the benchmark for global safety management in airlines.
A-I was among the first global carriers to have got the certification in 2004, along with Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Air New Zealand to name a few.
‘‘Due to the expansion programme undertaken by A-I, which involved induction of 68 aircraft, IATA had suggested certain additional training modules to be completed before they renewed the certificate for 2006,’’ stated a press statement by the flag carrier.
