Mumbai: Of the thousands of pilot aspirants who gave their theory exams for a Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) in April, no one from Mumbai seems to have cleared all the five subjects. And barely 10% have passed in two of the five subjects.
The results were declared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday. Not a single Mumbai candidate has cleared all the five subjects and Delhi sources said that only one student from the capital cleared all the five subjects.
Says Capt Yashraj Tongia, chief flying instructor, Yash Air, a flying institute: "It's not as if the students are dumb.
The quality of ground and flying training in India has deteriorated largely because of lack of experienced and knowledgeable instructors."
With most trained professionals joining airlines, the dearth of teachers has started showing in the results.
"A new breed of so-called ground training instructors have emerged, most of whom have barely any qualifications."Capt Tongia says.
