Kolkata: The government, in collaboration with private partners, is also planning to revive the Pilot Licence Training and Aircraft Maintenence Engineering programme at the Behala Flying Training Institute.
Arup Saha, chairman of the Pailan Group, and Ang Tshering Sherpa, MD, Yeti Airlines of Nepal, met State Transport Minister Subhash Chakrabarty today to discuss the proposals.
The two firms proposed to operate short-distance flights from the Behala Airport. The flight service will use 30-seater (Jet Stream 41) aircraft to sectors like Haldia, Digha, Jamshedpur, Balurghat, Asansol, Gaya, Lucknow, Port Blair, Coochbehar etc.
The companies have already signed a memorandum of understanding to operate a domestic and international airline from West Bengal.
