DoT to further simplify frequency allocation

New Delhi: With a view to expediting the roll-out and growth of various telecom networks, the department of telecomm (DoT), in consultation with the defence ministry and Airports Authority of India (AAI), has taken steps to further simplify frequency allocation procedures.
According to the new simplified norms, all antenna towers located beyond 7 km from the nearest airport and having up to 40 metres of the above mean sea level (AMSL) of the airport reference point need not undergo the detailed sitting clearance procedure.
The service providers have to only register online on designated websites, and necessary clearance will be issued by the standing committee on radio frequency allocation secretariat, an official release said.
