New Delhi: The ministry of home affairs has granted security clearance for four members appointed by Jet Airways on the Air Sahara board, though a green signal for Naresh Goyal's clearance is still awaited.
With this, government has partially cleared the decks for India's largest domestic airline to acquire Air Sahara for $500 million (Rs 2,300 crore), but a security clearance for the Jet Airways chairman is seen as a crucial missing link. Senior government sources said the home ministry has cleared four members of Air Sahara's proposed board - including Jet's ED Saroj Dutta, former advisor to finance minister Vijay Kelkar, lyricist Javed Akhtar and Victoriano P Dunca.
Government officials refused to read much into the delay in the green light for the Jet chairman, saying such approvals often come on a piecemeal basis.
