Mumbai: Pawan Hans, India’s helicopter operator, will set up South-East Asia’s largest maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in Mumbai in two years.
The 24-crore project, scheduled to be completed by April 2008, has its plan in order. The work is expected to begin at the Juhu aerodome from October.
"Our centre is built to cater to any helicopter around the globe. We will provide our services to external agents. It will act as a profit centre too,” said Captain S Verma, general manager, western region, Pawan Hans.
With 130 helicopters flying in the country, industry experts said the helicopter fleet may increase at an uniform rate of 10 percent every year.
