New Delhi: VVIPs will now fly in style at the IGI Airport. The two white Ambassadors bearing the trademark beacon light and unmarked number plate that just say 'VIP' which used to ferry VVIPs from the entrance gate on domestic arrival-IB terminal side to their aircraft, are now being replaced with latest luxury vehicles like Camry and Innova.
Sources said this facility would also be extended to high flyers who use small corporate or executive jets for crisscrossing the country.
The average passenger can also look forward to an easier approach to the airport. The huge green central verge in front of IB terminal is being demolished.
At present, vehicles have to turn left at the island to reach IB and this bend in traffic flow is yet another impediment to smooth access. "Special approach paths will be created for passengers to reach the terminal once they alight from their vehicles," said sources.
