Mumbai: The quota debate has raised its head in Air-India (A-I). Four senior Scheduled Caste (SC) officers, due for promotion, have alleged that the management superceded them to pave way for General Category officers, overlooking their merit for the posts.
The four Security Department officers, who have now approached the National Scheduled Castes Commission, are Manager M N Kamble and Deputy Managers M K Chakorkar, M Chellappa and A R Kadam. The panel found Mumbai-based M N Kamble unsuitable for promotion to senior manager although he discharges the responsibilities of a senior manager. Chakorkar is posted in Pune, Chellappa in Dhaka and A K Kadam in Goa. These deputy managers too discharge responsibilities of managers as they hold independent charge of their stations.
