New Delhi: Air passengers may be able to use their mobile phones and access e-mails on board aircraft by 2007 provided the government approves a proposed project.
Air to ground communications major $897 million Arinc Inc on Monday tied up with its regional partner Bird Group to launch the in-flight mobile service in India.
In-flight mobile access is subject to regulatory approvals across the world. While European Commission has given its approval, the US FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is currently reviewing the regulation. In India, in-flight calls are barred by DGCA, though talks are on for regulatory approvals by 2007, Arnic officials said.
