Kolkata: Airport Authority of India chairman K Ramalingam today held a high-level meeting with AAI officials at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport here to give a final shape to the ongoing modernisation process of the city airport.
With the modernisation process of the city airport underway by the AAI, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee held a discussion on July 4 with the AAI officials for making it a hub for air taxi operations.
Air taxi operations from the airport would ensure better connectivity with different growth centres and help promote tourism in West Bengal, state officials said.
The Chief Minister had told reporters that the long-awaited modernisation of the defunct Coochbehar airport in North Bengal was nearing completion.
