Kolkata: The Airports Authority of India Employees Union will launch agitation if the Centre "tried to privatise the airports in the name of modernisation".
Such a step would go against the country's interest, a union spokesman said this evening, at the end of the deliberations of the union's two-day conference. The conference began on Wednesday.
Threatening to launch agitation if the union's demand was not considered, the spokesman said "we also want modernisation but it should be done under the guidance of AAI and not under private entrepreneurs."
He alleged that the AAI management was delaying to take decisions regarding the promotion and pension issues of employees.
