The Boeing 747-400 Combi aircraft of Air India, Sunderbans, which was involved in incidents of tyre burst and subsequently had been grounded by the Company, has been brought back into service after thorough inspections and checks by competent authorities.
A high level Committee under the Chairmanship of the Executive Director-Air Safety of Air India had been constituted for this purpose. The Committee had amongst others representatives of DGCA, Boeing and the Tyre manufacturing companies Goodrich, Goodyear and Bridgestone. Based on the Committee's findings, all corrective action required has since been taken.
Air India thereafter sent the aircraft to Boeing, Seattle in USA for a thorough inspection with a view to eliminate any lingering doubts on the technical status of the aircraft and its airworthiness.
