Mumbai: The enquiry relating to the pilferage of six Scotch bottles on board Air-India One, the Prime Minister’s special aircraft, has been completed. ‘‘The person who is believed in all probability to have committed this pilferage was a service engineer, who had access to the entire upper deck of the aircraft,’’ Air India (A-I) said in a press statement on Monday.
The incident occurred when the aircraft was parked at Hanover between the time the crew deplaned on April 22 and enplaned on April 24.
According to the report, a common key in the possession of crew members made for easy access and the flag carrier’s management is now mulling a change in the current system.
A-I added that ‘‘disciplinary action will soon be initiated against the engineer and he will not be assigned any further VVIP duties.’’
On the other issue of upto four bottles being found in the possession of some crew members, A-I said: ‘‘The enquiry reveals that these were not directly related to the pilferage.’’
