Air services from Delhi return to normal

New Delhi: Air services from Delhi, which were disrupted due to heightened security measures, returned to normal with most flights on Friday morning taking off on time.
The arrivals were also generally on time and there was no delay on account of additional security measures, airport sources said.
The delays on Thursday were primarily caused by heightened security following the Mumbai blasts and the malfunctioning of an X-Ray machine at the terminal catering to private domestic carriers. Repairs are also being carried out at this terminal as part of the first phase of modernisation plan, leading to cramming of space there.
Acknowledging the delays, Civil Aviation Secretary Ajay Prasad had said the security procedures were reviewed following the flight delays and a decision was taken to simplify security procedures and put in place new ones.
