Kuala Lumpur: AirAsia Bhd is aggressively looking into expanding routes to China and India next year, said chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes.
In a move to reassure investors of its growth, Fernandes felt that AirAsia would be given access to more routes and being able to reach China and India would have a positive impact on investors.
“My team is in China now, negotiating with various airports there. We have put in some applications,” he told reporters after a corporate presentation to analysts yesterday.
“We want to focus more on (destinations) closer to Hong Kong; south China would be our first (priority) and then, we may look at Chongqing, Xian and all the other places,” he said, adding that in India, AirAsia was considering the coastal areas.
