A senior manager with Air India’s inflight services has been accused of abusing a woman colleague belonging to the Scheduled Caste.
In a complaint lodged with the Scheduled Caste Commission, the victim Bharati Pawar has alleged that VD Katrekar had ridiculed her on caste lines for not attending to his call.
Pawar works in the Cabin Crew Movement Control (CCMC), Inflight Service Department, and her work entails, among other things, attending to phone calls.
In her First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Sahar police station, Pawar stated that despite her apologies, Katrekar abused her and called her ‘Mahardi’ (belonging to Mahar caste), ridiculing her caste. He also threatened to slap her. Pawar said she made an entry of the events in the official log book.
Katrekar, however, rubbished the allegations.
