Farnborough, UK: Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), the $15 billion global aerospace company, said it has been invited to take part in airport projects in 12 countries in Asia and the Middle East, and would be ready to initiate the first project within two to three months.
Speaking to Khaleej Times at Farnborough Air Show, Dr Mohammed A. Al Zarouni, Managing Director of DAE, said some of the projects under discussion are greenfield projects while others involve major revamp and modernisation programmes, mostly in China and India. "Our discussions with all these countries are in various stages. We hope to announce the first deal as soon as we finalise it in the coming months," he said.
Predicting a rush of airport buildings in Western China and India, Bob Johnson, the new chief executive of DAE said most of the world's existing airports were designed for a different time.
