Kolkata:The country's first rail-air link multi-modal transport system got off the ground in Kolkata on Saturday.
Getting to the airport was never this easy. No traffic snarls, no wasting time.
The multi-modal transport system inaugurated by Lalu Prasad Yadav now makes it possible to reach Dum Dum airport from the city centre by rail in half the time one would otherwise take to reach in a car.
The Kolkata airport railway link has been built by Metro Railway at a cost of Rs 87 crore.
Similar railway-airport networking is planned for other major metros.
