Mumbai: Major retailers in the branded food segment are making a beeline for setting up outlets at the airport, which is being upgraded and modernised by the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL).
TramellCrow Megharaj, the international property consultant appointed by the MIAL to roll out its retail strategy at the airport, is in talks with Cafe Coffee Day, Select Service Partner (SSP, having outlets in 120 airports across 120 countries), McDonalds and Dominos for retail outlets at the airport.
Cafe Coffee Day, which currently has Cybercafe Zones within their outlets at several Indian airports, is evaluating the pros and cons of setting up a mini-outlet in the Mumbai Airport.
Moreover, MIAL is also planning to extend the lease licences of few existing retailers for the next one year if their services are better.
