Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar: The Centre has okayed a Rs 291 crore-project for construction of the terminal building at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here. Designed on the lines of Singapore’s Changi Airport, it’s likely to be ready in three years.
The new terminal will not only offer recreational facilities like hotels, spas, children’s corners, duty-free shops, it will also have banks, post-office, Internet service, parking space for 550 cars among other things.
Airport director S D Avasthi said,‘‘Work on the project will begin in two months after we receive approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and environmental clearance. Of the total sum, Rs 117 crore has been allotted for construction of the international building.
