New Delhi:Choppers, which are the most important way of campaigning for political leaders may soon be grounded, as there are not enough pilots to fly them.
The helicopters not just allow the leaders a whirlwind campaign but also help them pull crowds for their rallies.
But the past couple of months have seen a sudden spate of resignations and as many eight pilots have left Pawan Hans, the country's largest helicopter operator.
The number is four times high as compared to the last three years.
Many pilots are joining the new breed of airlines that have come up recently following a shortage of pilots in the civil aviation sector.
The government also has made it easier, earlier, an experienced chopper pilot had to go through the same training as a fresher to fly a plane. Now, he needs mere 100 hours of flying a plane to join an airline.
