Pondicherry: The Pondicherry government has decided to enter into a memorandum of understanding with Airports Authority of India (AAI) to extend the runway here by 160 metres for day and night landing of ATR type aircraft.
A notification has been issued for acquisition of 11 hectares of land for the purpose, Lt Governor Mukut Mithi said today in his customary address on the opening day of the budget session of the territorial Assembly.
The AAI would develop the Pondicherry airport to facilitate in the second phase landing of bigger aircraft like Airbus and Boeing, he added.
