Farnborough, UK: Kingfisher Chief, Vijay Mallya is in the news again. This time it's not about beer, but aircraft. While he was busy signing deals at Britain's Farnborough International Air Show on Tuesday, his aircraft hogged the limelight, reports CNBC-TV18.
Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher aircraft shared a prime spot besides the Airbus A-380 at the Farnborough International Air Show in Britain. Kingfisher is the first Indian carrier to have ordered five such superjumbo aircrafts and Chairman Mallya is clearly pleased.
Mallya signed an engine deal agreement with Pratt & Whitney for Kingfisher's A330s and a long-term agreement with the same to overhaul existing engines. In addition, Mallya also signed a USD 50 million agreement with ATR for its existing ATR 72-500s.
Kingfisher has been shopping hard in the past 10 months. It has ordered 30 Airbus A-320s, and five each of the A-330, A-340 and A-350. And, besides the latest A-380s, Kingfisher will also buy 35 ATR 72-500s.
