Sydney: Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey has expressed relief that his airline's new 62.4 per cent owner Toll Holdings has developed a "harmonious relationship" with its second-biggest shareholder, Sir Richard Branson.
Four months after Toll secured control of Patrick Corp, Mr Godfrey conceded that Virgin Blue struggled to make some vital business decisions when Sir Richard and Patrick boss Chris Corrigan were fighting for control of the airline.
Mr Godfrey said Virgin Blue still had a long way to go before it could gain approval to fly daily services to the US, find long-range aircraft and secure slots at certain US airports.
As for any plans to reconsider entering the Asian low-cost airline market, Mr Godfrey said: "Asia is still of interest, but it's not on the front burner."
Aside from Macau, he said Virgin Blue had considered making an investment in India.
