New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to install instrumental landing system (ILS) at the secondary runway at IGI airport.
Both ends of the main runway, last year, got the Cat III A system that allows operations even when visibility is down to about 100 metres.
But only one end of the secondary runway has Cat I system that can allow aircraft operations when visibility is down to 550 metres.
"Now we are going to have ILS facility on the other end too. This has become vital as simultaneous use of runways is a normal practice now. This should not be disrupted when visibility drops,"said a senior AAI official.
