Air India seeks security boost at Bahrain airport

Bahrain airport authorities are now considering a request for increased security at the Air India departure gate.
Extra security staff to screen passengers before they board flights on India's national carrier were requested by Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty, during a meeting with Transportation Ministry Under-Secretary Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud.
The additional screening would be carried out in addition to routine security checks that all passengers have to go through before and after checking in.
However, it will only affect passengers flying on Air India - which has just banned all cabin-luggage on its flights except travel documents, cash, jewellery, medicines (accompanied by doctors' prescriptions), other documents (school certificates and medical certificates among others) and infant food (allowed only if an infant is travelling).
