Cochin/Manama: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan yesterday pledged to investigate the negligence of workers at Cochin Internatioinal Airport who failed to offload the body of a Bahrain-based worker from an Indian aircraft, formerly Indian Airlines, on Thursday.
Ozhalipaarampil Klejo, 27, from Chalakkudy, Kerala, was electrocuted at work in Bahrain last week.The body was brought to Cochin by an Indian flight from Bahrain on Thursday morning and the relatives were waiting with an ambulance to receive it. However, because of the negligence of some Air India staff, which is responsible for ground handling at the airport, the body was not offloaded.The aircraft had left for Mumbai with the body by the time the relatives alerted airport officials.The relatives who had planned for the funeral in the afternoon became violent, and the airport officials finally brought the body back to Cochin late in the evening by another flight from Mumbai.
