Kolkata: The high alert at the NSC Bose International Airport here following yesterday's anonymous call that RDX had been planted on a Kolkata-bound Bangladesh flight, would continue till August 20 for security reasons, Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials said today. They, however, said it was normal drill every year to sound an alert at the airport prior to Independence Day as a precautionary measure.
Entry of visitors to the airport was banned last week. Meanwhile, efforts were being made by the police to trace the anonymous caller who had warned that RDX had been planted on a Bangladesh Biman flight.
"The police are trying to trace the anonymous caller who spoke in English," AAI sources said.
No explosive was found on two Biman flights which were searched after landing. Three unclaimed packages, however, were found from a Biman flight from Chittagong.
