Finnair’s Asian traffic will grow in the latter part of this year and next year by 30 per cent. Flight frequency on the Delhi route, which begins with three flights a week at the end October, will be increased next spring to five flights a week.
Advance interest in our Indian service has been huge, even though it hasn’t even started yet. We are also currently working to increase traffic to our present destinations in Japan and China. At the same time we are preparing to open up new routes. This year we will carry nearly one million passengers on our Asian flights,” said Finnair’s President and CEO Jukka Hienonen today, at an investors’ seminar in Helsinki hosted by Kaupthing Bank.
In the summer, the company’s long-haul fleet of six aircraft was strengthened by two additional aircraft. Next year, two new Airbus A340 wide-bodied aircraft will be introduced into Asian traffic.
