Chennai: One hundred and fifty two passengers and nine crew members of the Singapore-Chennai Indian Airlines flight (IC 556) had a miraculous escape when one of the tyres of the aircraft burst on the runway at the Anna International Airport here today.
Airport sources said the flight, scheduled to land here at 0940 hours landed after a two-hour delay. After landing, the aircraft was on the runway completing the landing procedure when the tyre burst.
The alert pilot noticed this and managed to bring the plane to a safe halt, much to the relief of the passengers and crew.
