Kolkata: Lufthansa Airlines today announced the commencement of three non-stop flights a week between Kolkata and Frankfurt from 1 December. Coming back to the city after a gap of nearly 35 years, the carrier also announced special inaugural fares on the Kolkata-Frankfurt route.
Lufthansa will operate an Airbus A340-300 with a seating capacity of 235, including eight first-class, 54 business class and 173 economy class seats.
The promotional travel expenses will be Rs 19,900 for Europe and Rs 35,000 for New York and Los Angeles. The flights will come equipped with special state-of-the-art gizmos such as Flynet ~ a high-speed wireless Internet service enabling passengers to access Internet while flying and PrivateBed, exclusively designed for the relaxation of the business class passengers.
