Toronto: One of the main accused in the Air India bombing case has been sued by a Mortage company here, which asked the court to foreclose two of his properties.
Desjardins financial security life assurance company claims that Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was cleared of charges in the bombings that killed 331 people of all 329 people aboard Air India's Kanishka Jet, which exploded off the coast of Ireland, owes it 1.95 million dollars.
It has asked the court to foreclose on Malik's family home in upscale Shaughnessy and a warehouse and showroom for his clothing business, according to documents filed with the court in Vancouver yesterday.
The provincial government also has a mortgage on the warehouse property because Malik owes it 6.4-million dollars in legal fees for his trial defence.
