Kolkata: Beefed-up security at NSC Bose Airport and thorough checking of passengers’ hand baggage may have inconvenienced travellers but no one has lodged any complaints.
Mr Aminul Hossain, taking an Air India flight to Dhaka, said: “They did not allow my parents to see me off from the visitors’ gallery but the restrictions are necessary for our security. I feel quite safe to see the rigorous checking of all luggage.”
At the entry points, passengers are being checked thoroughly and their luggage is being scrutinised by CISF personnel. They are not being allowed to take liquid and gels on board.
Those coming in from other places said that security had been tightened up at the other airports as well without anyone being harassed anywhere. But security outside the terminal was not strict and private vehicles were not checked before they were parked.
