New Delhi: Taking exception to the security references sought by various governments on Goyal's airline Jet Airways, civil aviation minister Praful Patel on Friday said India has already given the airline and its directors security clearance, and queries on the matter are "flawed".
"The whole issue is flawed to some extent because we (Indian government) don't seek security references of the airlines designated by any foreign country to operate to India. So, why should they seek a security reference of an airline that has been cleared and designated by the Indian government," Patel said.
The response comes in the wake of queries by governments seeking a security reference on Jet after one of its British employees was allegedly linked with the foiled terror plot to blow up transatlantic airplanes.
This comes as a big boost for the airline, which had to ground its proposed flight to US after an American namesake pointed fingers at Jet's funding.
