Mumbai: Thomas Cook India Ltd (TCIL) brings home another interesting international trend. It will launch a dedicated 'white label' company that will look to tap airlines and hotels seeking to enter the vacation retail business to push inventory and build brand equity, either through investment or joint venture. It is already in talks with a full service domestic carrier to start the airline's holiday retail arm.
So far, Emirates Holidays is the only instance of such a tie up, between Emirates and Kuoni. The concept of 'white labeling' is a form of contracting services outside one's core business which may add value to the company's overall business.Leisure, according to Ashutosh Akshikar, travel business head, TCIL, is one such area of growing interest for airlines.
