Doha: Over booking of tickets, coupled with Indian Airlines' decision not to operate additional flights during peak summer, have landed several vacation returnees from the southern Indian state of Kerala, in a quandary.
The summer rush is being exploited by the travel agents in the state to make quick money, with the alleged connivance of a section of airline officials. Even passengers with confirmed tickets have to bribe the middlemen, to ensure their boarding passes, complained the returning passengers.
With the early opening of schools in Qatar forcing families and students to cut short their vacations, all the three sectors are witnessing heavy rush. Often, the revenue passengers are denied the boarding pass on the excuse of their ‘delayed' arrival for security checks. These tickets are sold out on higher prices by the middlemen, they said.
Passengers held some influential travel agents responsible for the fiasco.
