The Tepe-Akfen Consortium (TAV), a Turkish giant in the construction and operation of airports, will invest nearly $70-billion in northern Africa, the Middle East, Caucasus and Eastern Europe within 10 years.
Sani Sener, CEO and executive board member of TAV, which currently operates Istanbul’s International Ataturk Airport, said they will undertake enormous investments over an area similar to the previous Ottoman borders.
The TAV CEO asserted that they have become a popular company in the sector, and for this reason, the companies who successfully bid in tenders will sometimes call on TAV for the construction.
For instance, TAV lost the tender for the Bombay Airport; however, the winning company GMR, one of India’s biggest companies, invited TAV for the construction.
