UK terror plot: AI, Jet report major delays

New Delhi: Air-India and Jet Airways on Thursday reported major delays in flights from London following heightening of security at Heathrow airport after the discovery of a terror plot to blow up planes on trans-Atlantic flights.
While a Jet Airways spokesperson said its London-Mumbai flight was delayed by over three hours, her Air-India counterpart said one flight was delayed by over six hours.Both said the other flights were expected to be delayed. Strict security regulations were put in place after the plot was unearthed by the British police and security agencies were the prime cause for delays.

Air India London flights update
Mumbai: All Air India flights to and from London
scheduled for today are being operated.
Flight Updates:Flight AI-112 operated on the
New York-London-Delhi-Mumbai sector, which
arrived at Heathrow airport today morning, is
expected to depart from London after a 5-6 hour
delay due to restriction on carriage of hand
baggage on board. Passengers' hand baggage has
been checked in for carriage in the cargo hold, an
airline spokesman said in Mumbai. Flight AI-101,
which left Mumbai for London enroute to New York
in the morning landed at Heathrow at about
4.00 pm (IST). Air India has two more flights to
London today – AI-131 on the Ahmedabad-London
sector and AI-151 on the Kolkata-London sector.
Both flights are due to arrive in London late in
the evening.

Air India's New York-London-Delhi service (AI-112) was delayed by six hours, while AI-101 on Mumbai-London-New York route landed at 4 pm and was expected to face a similar delay.
The state-owned carrier also has two terminator flights -- Ahmedabad-London and Delhi-Dhaka-Kolkata-London -- which were also likely to be delayed due to the security measures. Jet Airways also has a Delhi-London flight.
